See the first IBM PC, the IBM 5150 from 1981 in action. This PC was build in 1983 and is upgraded to the full 640KB RAM and with two 30MB MFM-Harddisks. The CPU is a AMD 8088 (second source).

      sounds like the hard drive wasn´t parked correctly (my st225 made the same sound when i got it, but after parking it and spinning it up again it had the correct startup pattern)

      or did you mean that other disc he inserted? that was DOS 2.10 startdisc.

      No, you only have to replace the full hight drives with this one. Then you have room for two other 5,25″ drives. This half hight drives are also only standard capacity drives fpr 360K disketts, no HD drives (1,2M). If HD drives should be used, you have to change the floppy controller.

      I didn’t know it’s possible to use those flat floppy drives. Does that need some special modifications, or are they special third party products…?

      There were a few PCs bevor this one. It’s only the first IBM PC, which introduced the architecture that is still in use in actual PCs (IBM compatible).
