I’m going into my first year of college this fall and need to buy a laptop. So who do you think makes the best laptop (as in company) and what model? Also please include price. Thanks!

Asus laptops are great. buy asus laptops from http://www.newegg.com or http://www.amazon.com to get a great warranty(2 years with 1 year accidental coverage). Do not buy an asus from best buy because they have 1 year warranty’s.
sorry i can’t recommend a specific model, but they are all good. The cheapest asus laptop i have found is 700dollars.
i would go for a mac. they are amazing and extremely durable and fast. they start at about 1000 dollars.

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite A305-S6916 and it’s amazing and it was $749 (looks like it’s only 699 now!) at Best Buy. It has great speakers for a laptop. I used to never listen to music on my laptop because of the speakers, but with this one I am always listening to music. It has 320GB HD space, 4GB of RAM, and a dedicated ATI Radeon HD 3650 (512MB) graphics card. It is a little heavy to always be carrying around, but other than that I love this laptop. I would seriously recommend this laptop to anyone.

The best laptop is the one that best meets your needs. If you plan on studying a major that requires 3D graphic programming, then you will want a powerful graphics card. If you are planning on being an English major, then you won’t need an expensive graphics card, but rather a larger screen for typing papers.
The best way to shop for a laptop is to learn your needs and then search for computers that meet these needs. I suggest you take a look at Microsoft’s Laptop Scout. You simply put in what type of computing you will be doing and then set criteria for categories like price, screen size, storage space etc and then it offers laptops that meet your needs. There are also plenty of reviews of the laptops so you can see how people who have used them actually think about them.
